Pastor Arthur Charles Toney was born in Giddings , Texas on November 19, 1940.
Pastor Toney He is a graduate of Dallas' Lincoln High School where he excelled in football and track.

Education is very important to Pastor Toney. He has attended numerous colleges which include the Dallas Theological Seminary, Evangelical Training Association, Inter Baptist Theological Seminary, Aspen Christian College and Bishop College in order to further his knowledge.

One of his greatest accomplishments is being the proud father of four children Vickie, Ricky (deceased), Drexel and Monik. He is the doting grandfather of four grandchildren and two great grand children.

He is blessed to still have sisters Victoria and Lizetta and brother David as part of his life. Pastor Toney accepted his calling to the ministry in 1972.

He has served as pastor to churches in Longview (Pleasant Hill Baptist Church 1972-75) and Athens (Mt. Calvary Baptist Church 1975-78).

His greatest challenge as a pastor was starting Pleasant Zion.

Pleasant Zion began in 1978 with 14 members. The church met in the fellowship hall of Rose of Sharon Baptist Church. The church eventually purchased and remodeled a building at 5210 South Lamar Street in Dallas, Texas.

The membership continued to grow from 14 to over 75 members. They eventually built a church at 1910 North St. Augustine Road in Dallas, Texas and the congregation still meets at that sight today.

At Pleasant Zion Pastor Toney seeks to teach the adults and youth about the Word of God; and stresses that it's good for children to be in church; rather than being on the streets and getting into trouble.

He enjoys teaching the Word of God and emphasizes the importance of being a Bible teaching church.

There are many opportunities to learn about the Bible at Pleasant Zion bcause the doors are open almost every day.

Pastor Toney ends each service with “I love you” because he loves his congregation and wants them to know this.

When talking with our Pastor (in person or on the phone), he ends the conversation with "I love you."
If by chance you happen to tell him you love him first, his ending reply is "Thank You - I Love You More."

Pastor Toney believes in spreading the Good News beyond the church walls.

Pastor Toney has ministered to persons confined in Balch Springs, South Dallas and Brentwood Nursing Homes.

He has also volunteered and ministerd to persons returning to society after being incarcerated.
He has counseled women seeking to remove themselves from domestic violence situations.

Pastor Toney affiliated himself with the United Church Fellowship District Association in 1988.
He has served as moderator and president of the association.

He has served on many civic boards within the city of Dallas and has also served as a volunteer counselor for schools in Dallas ISD.

Pastor Toney's greatest joy in life comes from proclaiming the Word of God whether in church, in the parks, street corner, a restaurant or a barber shop.

He never misses an opportunity to pray and share “The Word” with those that are lost or in need of a lift in life.

All the awards and certificates received mean nothing to Pastor Toney; because;
only what you do for God will last.
