This mentoring program is designed for the Pleasant Zion boys and young men, ages 8-25.

The "YOUNG LIONS" would like to thank all members that donated to the Christmas Angel Tree for our T-shirts!

Our goal is to teach our youth what it means to be African-American men spiritually, culturally and physically. These three dimensions of self are explored thoroughly to infuse youth with a strong self-image and positive self esteem by knowing who they are in Christ.

Spiritually

The Young Lions rites of passage program addresses the experience of youth from a holistic perspective of Christian ministry.

Culturally
It provides positive experiences and dialog about African-American culture, heritage and traditions, placed in the content of Scripture.

Physically
We will examine issues of male adolescence and puberty, addressing everything from personal hygiene to human sexuality.

The Young Lions methodology is to put nurturing Black men in a position to teach our youth for the purpose of installing hope for who they can be and what they can accomplish.

We attempt to infuse Christian spiritual values so the youth will gain and possess inner peace and strength to bring to bear on their external situation, whatever it may be.

Young Lions is a program helping youth to grow like Jesus “in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man” (Luke 2:52, KJV).

The Bible places great significance on teaching children. Proverbs 22:6 is a basic axiom for ministry to children and youth in urban neighborhoods: “Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray.”

Jesus looked beyond the present circumstances of His followers as fishermen, tax collector and common people and saw them as leaders for the kingdom of God.

The aim of the Young Lions is to enable African-American youth to achieve their God-given potential and to proclaim Jesus Christ to them, admonishing and teaching them with all wisdom, that they may grow into the likeness of Christ.
